German Historic District
The German Historic District offers a variety of attractions including the remains of the St. Peter’s Evangelical German Church and the original German YMCA building that was built in 1893. Back in the 1800s, this district was known as Calf Town because almost every household had a cow or calf tied in their backyard.

East End Historic District
The East End Historic District is distinguished by its grand collection of houses of every period since 1850. The corner of 16th and Maine Streets is known to be one of the most architecturally significant corners in the United States. Many of these houses have been restored and their lots planted with sugar maples, tulip trees, flowering dogwood and redbud trees.
